Rally for Afghanistan

The turmoil in Afghanistan right now is destroying the quality of life and human rights for countless innocent people. In case you missed it, the USA withdrew Military and Afghanistan’s president has LEFT HIS OWN COUNTRY. This allowed the unjust and violating Taliban to take over government buildings and the majority of Afghanistan. Imagine being uprooted from your life and being in constant fear of not knowing what might happen and powerless. When the Taliban last ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, women could not work, girls were not allowed to attend school and women had to cover their faces and be accompanied by a male relative if they wanted to venture out of their homes. Music, TV and cinema were banned. Now, with all this power, the Taliban will:

  • Restore Sharia Law (which is a violation of human rights)

  • Abuse, rape, and deny women and girls access to education

That’s why we, PPG, are holding a rally on August 18th at 11:30 am EDT at Marco Mendicino's office. We are doing this because "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" as MLK has said. We will not remain silent while our progress in human rights is being brutally reversed, and we hope you’ll join us. Our target is to get the attention of our MPP Marco Mendicino who then can get the attention of the Canadian government to help bring the Afghanistan girl’s robotics’s team to Canada. By bringing them to Canada they will have the opportunity to attend university/college and avoid becoming child brides. We would truly appreciate your solidarity and participation in this rally.
